Text Box: Our last couple of performance opportunities for the summer are coming up! And they include a couple opportunities for students to sing with Cool Conspiracy! The Northwest Art & Air Festival has contracted my students and Cool Conspiracy to sing on August 24th. The student performance begins at 10 am. All students are encouraged to participate. You may sing any style and have live accompaniment or sing with CDs. Students who performed with Cool Conspiracy in Portland are invited to perform the same songs again with the band beginning at 11:30 am.

Also, a retirement village in Salem is having a 50’s Day on Wednesday, August 27th (this is a date change!) and students can sing with Cool Conspiracy there as well. There will not be an opportunity to sing any other songs at this event.

We have the opportunity to perform at the Corvallis Artisans’ Market again on August 16th, from 11am to 2 pm. Jon & I were originally scheduled to perform there by ourselves, but I have a gig with Cool Conspiracy that night and don’t want to tire my voice out, so I need some help! You can accompany yourself (I strongly encourage this!!!), or sing with background CDs. All styles are welcome, but remember that the audience is generally 30+, so choose your music accordingly. We will have a tip jar out, so you could earn some money.

Webpages—private students can have a page on my website. What I need from you for the page are pictures, a bio, performances, fun facts. I’ll help you write the bio. Pictures can be professional (make sure you have the right to use them on the site) or snapshots. I have a professional photographer that I recommend. We can organize a group photo shoot to save money, if enough of you are interested. Those of you who will be seniors next year may want to consider using her for your senior portraits, too.

Sign up for fall lessons times in going on now! Be sure to contact me to firm up your lessons time. I am going to be full on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school, so be sure to get your time reserved!!! I will be teaching some Saturdays for occasional students and for make-up lessons. I still have openings in Lebanon on Fridays after school.

Another Beginning Guitar Class at Bullfrog Music in Corvallis tentatively begins October 1st on Wednesday nights from 7:15 to 8:45 pm.

Every year for the last 3 years I’ve been hired to provide sound and entertainment at the Philomath Frolic’s Arts & Crafts Fair fundraiser. So I am assuming I’ll be hired again. Here’s an opportunity to do some longer sets and get some great practice performing. They want holiday music in addition to our regular music, so it’s not to early (believe it or not!) to start thinking about Christmas music. Also, start working on some instrumentals. You may play an instrument, even if you don’t take lessons from me on that instrument.

Portland Songwriter’s Association has a seminar on September 20th. I strongly encourage those of you who write music and have music theory experience to attend. Check out their website for the specific information about this seminar. I am planning on attending.
